Founded by Mark A. Saunders, The Coastal Companies is 100% committed to excellence and, as the anchor company, has grown over the years to include coastal home design and construction, real estate brokerage, vacation rentals, golf course ownership, mortgage brokerage, timber management, and the design and development of award-winning residential communities, all of which contribute to our area’s recent unprecedented growth. Since 1985, The Coastal Companies has helped create good jobs as one of the largest employers in the county; has been one of the largest tax revenue contributors, and has created quality places to live. Our dedicated staff of professionals and nearly 250 employees, work and play here – it’s our home – and provide exacting services in the design, development, financing, and building of truly extraordinary coastal homes and communities.

Our company was chosen by Coastal Living Magazine as both the community site and builder for the 2009 Coastal Living Idea House, featured in its November 2009 issue, in our Seawatch at Sunset Harbor community. Coastal living enthusiasts from all over the country arrived by the thousands during the 13 weeks the nationally-acclaimed home was open for tours, bringing droves of new visitors to the Brunswick County area.
